Chris Ekimoff is a Director in the Forensic & Litigation Consulting practice of FTI Consulting, Inc., in Washington DC. As a career anti-fraud professional, Chris has worked to combat financial statement fraud, asset misappropriation, international money laundering, and wasteful government spending in a variety of teams across multiple organizations.

Most notably, Chris helped lead a team of financial litigation consultants in working with the Office of the Bankruptcy Trustee overseeing the Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities matters. He also facilitated the completion of a forensic look-back into $40 billion of government spending in collaboration with the Special Inspector General for Iraq Reconstruction (SIGIR). Chris has performed internal and external investigations at the behest of Boards of Directors, independent auditors, and federal regulatory agencies, including the SEC, FINRA, and the Department of Justice.

Chris was featured in “The Last Word” section of the March 2014 Journal of Accountancy. He served as a panelist at the 2013 Digital CPA Conference alongside thought leader Simon Sinek. Chris was also featured in Fraud Magazine, a publication of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, in the “Second Generation Creates Its Own History” series, outlining rising CFEs and their views of the evolving profession. He was named a Top 5 CPA Under 35 by the Virginia Society of CPAs in 2013, and is a graduate of the 2012 AICPA Leadership Academy.

Apart from the billable hour, Chris has worked to foster & educate others throughout the financial industry about the CPA profession. In August, he co-authored an article for Law360 entitled “How to Deal with the Risks of Cross-Border M&A.” He is a Senior Correspondent for the monthly webzine “Around the Valuation World in 90 Minutes™,” sponsored by the National Association of Certifiers and Valuation Analysts (NACVA), providing research updates and financial insight to subscribers. Chris maintains a consistent and influential social media presence through his activities on Linkedin, Twitter, and Facebook. He also writes for the ACFE Insights Blog, volunteers with the AICPA Student Recruitment Committee, and is a member of the Virginia Society of CPAs Young Professionals Advisory Council.

Outside of his professional focus, Chris is an ardent fan of all things St. Bonaventure University. He graduated from SBU with a dual MBA/Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, and gives back to the University through volunteer work with the School of Business and the Bonnies Athletic Fund Advisory Council.
